In my opinion, McCain showed himself to be much more in tune with what needs to be done in Washington; He acted much more Presidential then did Obama. Although I don't agree with McCain on a lot of things, I know this man loves his Country and will do whatever it takes to protect her. He has the experience and the wisdom to handle a variety of issues, including the economy but even more so the War on Terror. I like the fact that he wants to get rid of the spending in Washington, I wish him luck with that especially if their is a veto proof Majority. I like that he's tough on terror, our enemies need to know not to mess with him. They will think twice before taking action with him as President.
Obama didn't do a bad job debating, he didn't seem to lose his composure, although he looked frustrated and interrupted several times. I think the Obama camp will be happy that he didn't make any obvious mistakes. I don't think he lost any votes with his performance, but I also don't think he got any. Half the time I didn't know what the hell he was talking about, and I'm not sure he knew himself. On the economy it was clear to me that he leans towards socialism or worse. I'm not sure the general public gets that though. They hear someone who seems to know a lot about different issues and is able to talk about them seemingly "intelligently." On the War on Terror he failed miserably, he has no idea how to present himself to our enemies. They will see him as weak and naive. This is one of the scary things about Obama; I really believe if he gets elected we will see more attacks, and a lot of what has been accomplished by the Bush Administration will be undone.
Overall, I thought it was a good debate to watch, I wasn't bored and learned a few things about each guy. The media will spin this as a draw or win for Obama because he didn't fall on his face. I believe the average American will see it differently. My hope is that the media affords to Governor Palin the same set of standards when she debates next week, but I'm not holding my breath.
