The NY POST, WASHINGTON TIMES and DALLAS MORNING NEWS have all been told to move out by Sunday to make room for network bigwigs -- and possibly for the inclusion of reporters from two black magazines, ESSENCE and JET, the DRUDGE REPORT has learned. Despite pleas from top editors of the three newspapers that have covered the campaign for months at extraordinary cost, the Obama campaign says their reporters -- and possibly others -- will have to vacate their coveted seats so more power players can document the final days of Sen. Barack Obama's historic campaign to become the first black American president. MORE Some told the DRUDGE REPORT that the reporters are being ousted to bring on documentary film-makers to record the final days; others expect to see on board more sympathetic members of the media, including the NY TIMES' Maureen Dowd, who once complained that she was barred from McCain's Straight Talk Express airplane. STANDING UP FOR WHAT YOU BELIEVE
There are 9 days before we go to the polls and vote. 9 days before the American People decide what direction to take their Country. 9 days left to fight for what we believe in. It's simple for us, all we have to do is talk to a few people;maybe donate; put up a sign in our yard, or maybe a bumper sticker on our car and finally just drive a few miles and vote. We have a great Country, a Country worth fighting for. So when you start to get discouraged think about what our forefathers went through, think about what the very people who signed the Declaration of Independence went though.WHATEVER BECAME OF ... [WeeklyUniverse.com] The 56 patriots who signed America's Declaration of Independence pledged "their lives, their fortunes, and their sacred honor" to the cause of freeing America from Great Britain -- the mightiest empire of the time -- and they meant it!
After the signing of July 4, 1776, many of the signers did indeed lose their homes, their life savings, and even their lives -- often after being sadistically tortured by the British!
These are the shocking historic facts contained in a report submitted anonymously to the Weekly Universe. In recounting the tragic fates of the courageous 56 signers, the report states:
Five signers were captured by the British as traitors and tortured before they died. Twelve had their homes ransacked and burned. Two lost their sons serving in the Continental Army; another had two sons captured. Nine of the 56 fought and died from wounds or hardships of the Revolutionary War.
They had pledged their lives, their fortunes, and their sacred honor. And they meant it!
What kind of men were they?
Twenty-four were lawyers and jurists. Eleven were merchants. Nine were farmers and large plantation owners. They were men of means, and well educated. Yet they signed the Declaration of Independence knowing full well the penalty would be death if they were captured!
* Carter Braxton of Virginia, a wealthy planter and trader, saw his ships swept from the seas by the British Navy. He sold his home and properties to pay his debts, and died in rags.
* Thomas McKeam was so hounded by the British that he was forced to move his family almost constantly. He served in the Congress without pay, and his family was kept in hiding. His possessions were taken from him, and poverty was his reward.
* Vandals or soldiers looted the properties of Dillery, Hall, Clymer, Walton, Gwinnett, Heyward, Ruttledge, and Middleton.
* At the battle of Yorktown, Thomas Nelson Jr., noted that the British General Cornwallis had taken over the Nelson home for his headquarters. He quietly urged General George Washington to open fire. The home was destroyed, and Nelson died bankrupt.
* Francis Lewis had his home and properties destroyed. The enemy jailed his wife, and she died within a few months.
* John Hart was driven from his wife's bedside as she was dying. Their 13 children fled for their lives. His fields and his gristmill were laid to waste. For more than a year he lived in forests and caves, returning home to find his wife dead and his children vanished. A few weeks later he died from exhaustion and a broken heart.
* Norris and Livingston suffered similar fates.
Such were the stories and sacrifices of the American Revolution.
These were not wild-eyed, rabble-rousing ruffians. They were soft-spoken men of means and education. They had security, but they valued liberty more. Standing tall, straight, and unwavering, they pledged: "For the support of this declaration, with firm reliance on the protection of the divine providence, we mutually pledge to each other, our lives, our fortunes, and our sacred honor."
They gave you and me a free and independent America.
The history books never told you a lot about what happened in the Revolutionary War. We didn't fight just the British. We were British subjects at that time, and we fought our own government!
Some of us take these liberties so much for granted, but we shouldn't. So, take a few minutes while enjoying your 4th of July holiday and silently thank these patriots. It's not much to ask for the price they paid.
Remember freedom is never free! It's time we get the word out that patriotism is not a sin, and the Fourth of July has more to it than beer, picnics, and baseball games."

Elections officials cannot challenge voters on Election Day or reject absentee ballots based solely on discrepancies from verifying new voter registrations, Secretary of State Jennifer Brunner said yesterday in directives to counties.
It's the latest development from the controversy about what should be done when personal information from new voters doesn't match state motor vehicle or federal Social Security records in an automatic computer check.

Powerful House Democrats are eyeing proposals to overhaul the nation’s $3 trillion 401(k) system, including the elimination of most of the $80 billion in annual tax breaks that 401(k) investors receive.
House Education and Labor Committee Chairman George Miller, D-California, and Rep. Jim McDermott, D-Washington, chairman of the House Ways and Means Committee’s Subcommittee on Income Security and Family Support, are looking at redirecting those tax breaks to a new system of guaranteed retirement accounts to which all workers would be obliged to contribute.

Under Ghilarducci’s plan, all workers would receive a $600 annual inflation-adjusted subsidy from the U.S. government but would be required to invest 5 percent of their pay into a guaranteed retirement account administered by the Social Security Administration. The money in turn would be invested in special government bonds that would pay 3 percent a year, adjusted for inflation. The current system of providing tax breaks on 401(k) contributions and earnings would be eliminated.

I can't for the life of me figure out why every republican politician isn't out there talking about this. This is the very heart of America; if we can't trust our voting system then we are truly screwed. Without fair elections nothing else matters. Why bother having an election if the people "in charge" do not care about its integrity. This is just sickening to me. If I lived in Ohio, I would be gathering my friends and family with big signs and start picketing. We need to start screaming at the top of our lungs about this, we need to go out and make the media cover this. If enough people start showing up the media will have to cover it.

SCRANTON – The agent in charge of the Secret Service field office in Scranton said allegations that someone yelled “kill him” when presidential hopeful Barack Obama’s name was mentioned during Tuesday’s Sarah Palin rally are unfounded.
The Scranton Times-Tribune first reported the alleged incident on its Web site Tuesday and then again in its print edition Wednesday. The first story, written by reporter David Singleton, appeared with allegations that while congressional candidate Chris Hackett was addressing the crowd and mentioned Oabama’s name a man in the audience shouted “kill him."
News organizations including ABC, The Associated Press, The Washington Monthly and MSNBC’s Countdown with Keith Olbermann reported the claim, with most attributing the allegations to the Times-Tribune story.
Agent Bill Slavoski said he was in the audience, along with an undisclosed number of additional secret service agents and other law enforcement officers and not one heard the comment.
“I was baffled,” he said after reading the report in Wednesday’s Times-Tribune.
He said the agency conducted an investigation Wednesday, after seeing the story, and could not find one person to corroborate the allegation other than Singleton.
Slavoski said more than 20 non-security agents were interviewed Wednesday, from news media to ordinary citizens in attendance at the rally for the Republican vice presidential candidate held at the Riverfront Sports Complex. He said Singleton was the only one to say he heard someone yell “kill him.”
“We have yet to find someone to back up the story,” Slavoski said. “We had people all over and we have yet to find anyone who said they heard it.”
Hackett said he did not hear the remark.
Slavoski said Singleton was interviewed Wednesday and stood by his story but couldn’t give a description of the man because he didn’t see him he only heard him.
When contacted Wednesday afternoon, Singleton referred questions to Times-Tribune Metro Editor Jeff Sonderman. Sonderman said, “We stand by the story. The facts reported are true and that’s really all there is.”
Slavoski said the agents take such threats or comments seriously and immediately opened an investigation but after due diligence “as far as we’re concerned it’s closed unless someone comes forward.” He urged anyone with knowledge of the alleged incident to call him at 346-5781. “We’ll run at all leads,” he said.

When contacted Wednesday afternoon, Singleton referred questions to Times-Tribune Metro Editor Jeff Sonderman. Sonderman said, “We stand by the story. The facts reported are true and that’s really all there is.”
Slavoski said the agents take such threats or comments seriously and immediately opened an investigation but after due diligence “as far as we’re concerned it’s closed unless someone comes forward.” He urged anyone with knowledge of the alleged incident to call him at 346-5781. “We’ll run at all leads,” he said.

She won't be charged or censured. He did accomplish one thing though; this will run in the news cycle for the remainder of this election. I think what he doesn't understand is that this will only make people who like Palin, like her even more.

What I've noticed is that Obama's numbers aren't necessary going up, but McCains are defiantly going down. In my opinion this is because McCain is angering the conservative base. The base is SCREAMING for him to fight; to point out the truth on the economy; to point out the questionable associations of Obama. They want him to fight, and he doesn't. He passes every opportunity to point out the truth. He must know that he barely has the conservative vote as it is, that the reason he was up in the polls once upon a time was because he picked Sarah Palin. I believe that the polls reflect this anger. I don't think Obama is going to get anymore votes then he has already, but I do believe that McCain will continue to lose support if he continues down this passive path. What I don't think the polls reflect is that on election day, even though conservatives may not like McCain, they will vote for him because their love for their Country is greater than their anger for McCain.

This shows how worried Obama is about Ayers and his other associations. This is going to get really ugly in the last 4 weeks. I expect more cries of racism and a lot more attacks from Obama.

SOCIALISM! BAILOUT PASSES
Way to go guys, you have now nationalized our banks and quite possible the real estate market. This is the first of many steps into socialism. I am disgusted, and quite suspicious of the timing of this whole debacle. I almost puked when I saw all those dems at the press conference smiling ear to ear. They know what just happened, but sadly many Americans do not. Pelosi actually had the nerve to say Barney Frank was going to be in charge of looking into who is behind this. Really Nancy, Did that really just come out of your mouth? The facts are clear on this issue, but the silence from the Republicans and McCain camp is deafening.

CLEARLY READY TO BE VICE PRESIDENT
No doubt the MSM will spin this for Biden, but they cannot erase what America saw tonight. Palin was smart and on point and in my opinion won this debate hands down.

...An e-mail distributed by a Virginia teachers union encouraged members to bring politics into the classroom by wearing blue in support of Democratic presidential candidate Sen. Barack Obama and simultaneously suggested that the union's voter registration efforts include those "you teach." ...
The e-mail said teachers should wear blue Tuesday for "Obama Blue Day" and to "register two voters or talk to two people who may be on the fence/or a McCain supporter and sway them to become a Obama supporter."
The e-mail also states: "There are people out there not yet registered. You teach some of them." ...
Are we really surprised by this? I have to check on a daily basis what my kids bring home from school and what kind of statements are being made by their teachers. It's a constant battle. The liberal/Democrat talking points and philosophies are being taught to our children starting in Kindergarten. We have to be vigilant and vocal about things like this.
